    Air France Update

    In the media, assumptions have been made on the causes of the AF 447 flight accident, expressed by the head of a minority pilots’ union and a retired pilot from another airline.

    Air France has made it clear that two inquiries are currently underway in France. One of them, the “technical” inquiry, is conducted by the Air Accident Investigation Bureau for purposes of improving air safety, as stated by the latter in a press release this morning. The other “legal”’ inquiry, carried out in order to identify potential legal responsibilities, is managed by the national gendarmerie led by an examining magistrate who has appointed judiciary experts.

    Since the accident of the Rio-Paris flight on 1 June, Air France has been cooperating with these different authorities, to enable concrete scenarios and factual evidence to be put forward for analysis.

    Suposições foram feitas na imprensa pelo responsável de um sindicato minoritário de pilotos e por um piloto aposentado sobre as causas do acidente com o voo 447, da Air France.

    A Air France esclarece que duas investigações oficiais estão ocorrendo atualmente na França. Uma delas, a técnica, está sendo conduzida pelo BEA (Bureau de Investigação e Análise) com o propósito de melhorar a segurança aeronáutica, conforme reiterado pelo órgão esta manhã (http://www.bea.aero/anglaise/actualite/actu.htm). A outra investigação, legal, tem o propósito de identificar possíveis responsabilidades legais e está sendo conduzida pela Justiça francesa.

    Desde a data do acidente do voo Rio-Paris, dia 1º de junho, a Air France tem cooperado com essas diferentes instâncias, de forma a possibilitar cenários concretos e evidências factuais que possam ser analisadas e divulgadas.
